5 out of 5 stars Norpro Stainless steel compost Keeper   September 3, 2010
Idaho Gal
I love this compost keeper. I make a trip to the garden compost pile every other day. The Stainless steel is heavy enough and the lid fits snug. no smells at all. The small bucket I used before was adequate, but the smell and the bugs it attracted was not nice. No more smell or bugs with this compost keeper. Love it and highly recommend it. It will be on my Christmas list this year to give.

5 out of 5 stars Great product.   August 27, 2010

Great compost pail. We live on an organic farm and I'm chopping veggies all the time. It's also much prettier on my countertop that the coffee cans I used before!

1 out of 5 stars Not stainless steel - Don't waste your money   August 21, 2010
Jodi
We paid the premium price for this product because it is supposed to be made of stainless steel. However, the speed with which this thin metal bucket begins to rust would seem to indicate that it is NOT made of stainless steel, or it is made from the cheapest grade of stainless steel possible.
We really liked the idea of the filter in the lid, and it did look nice on the counter (for a while). Was definitely an upgrade from the cheap, plastic eyesore of a pail we had before.
HOWEVER, when you pay nearly $40.00 for a product because it is supposed to be made of stainless steel, you should expect it to last like a good piece of silverware. This does not.
Buy something cheaper, you are wasting your money on this one.

5 out of 5 stars Only way to go for home composters   July 9, 2010
Cathy
We have been using the Norpro compost keeper for several years now and it is really the way to go if you like to keep a compost heap from kitchen scraps for gardening. It is durable, easy to clean and use, keeps the odors down and looks fairly attractive on the counter by the sink in the kitchen. After a while we stopped using the filters that fit into the lid. I was washing them out every so often, but the compost keeper works well enough without them and I don't notice any odor if the pail is kept cleaned and emptied regularly. Composting keeps down the amount of trash we take to the dump. The only complaint I have is that I wish it were a little larger, we seem to fill it up every few days. I would buy this product again.

5 out of 5 stars Still no smell after 1 year   May 14, 2010

I was looking for replacement filters after realizing that it has been 1 year (of heavy use) and I still haven't needed to replace the filters. Our family of 5 fills this up about 2 times per week but we compost just about anything we can! I have a great ComposTumbler outside that I can easily dump into from my Norpro 94 and turn 3 times. This saves at least 3 trips outside everyday to compost. My veggies this year are going to be outstanding! Worth every penny!
