I have tried several of the Mr Beer Brew kits that come with one can of malt and a package of "booster" and was very disappointed. These kits result in a watery fizzy brew that won't retain a head.
I happen to like IPA and decided to try the American Devil IPA. This kit uses 2 cans of malt extract and no "booster". I must say I was pleasantly surprised. This beer has a decidedly malty flavor with hoppy bitterness. Head retention is very good.
I plan to order more of these kits.
If you don't like a bitter beer this is not for you but if you like a a hoppy bitter brew it is highly recommended.
I plan to try some of Mr Beer's other all malt kits but no more "booster" brews for me.

the mr beer line to me is flawed and unsatisfactory yielding only mediocre beer. there was an time when i needed to get a response from their customer service. i would sooner go stand in the line for the DMV, is the Arizona air where they are causing such ill-mannered people who are near impossible to get answers from. they have their own agenda and stick with that without even the appearance of listening. just rude.
as such i would no longer buy mr beer and support such people.

This is the best I've tried yet. I added 1 cup of Amber DME, and fermented for 2 weeks. Also used carb drops.

I purchased this item recently and it comes with two cans of HME, not one, and two packets of yeast. I can't wait to try it - it is fermenting now.

Beware that this product comes with one can of beer mix, and one package of booster. The picture shows two cans. Amazon was great about correcting this for me, but it looks like the wrong picture is still online.
