Product Description 34007 Accident protection for the prudent. The Microplane Cut Resistant Glove allows for safer food preparation with its uniquely constructed, machine washable, light weight and comfortable design. Made from man-made fibers, the ''one size fits most'' glove molds quickly to fit either hand.We recommend that you use this glove for all your food preparation requiring sharp tools. Keep in mind that you still have to avoid the sharp edges just like you would if you weren't wearing it. The benefit comes in the case of accidental contact with a sharp edge. It may still damage the glove, just not your hand. Features: -Glove. -Specialty collection. -Available in black. -Specially engineered cut resistant fibers. -Lightweight, breathable, and strectchable. -One size fits most hands. -Fits either hand. -Made in USA. saves my hand September 7, 2010 Norma J. Rightler I use my mandoline all the time, and hate using the shield. I purchased this glove and it works great. I have a good gripe on whatever i am slicing and can get close without any cuts to my hand.
WARNING: WRONG item listed by seller August 29, 2010 Keeks 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had the same bad experience as the reviewers who dealt with HTW. I did NOT receive the Microplane brand glove listed and described. Instead I received a different brand glove. Unfortunately I didn't do my research by reading the reviews for HTW before buying. If I had, I wouldn't have made the purchase. The one good thing was that the return process was fairly simple. Hopefully Amazon will make the proper adjustments with this product and seller.
BEWARE OF SELLER- I got a cheap generic instead of the microplane brand I'd ordered! August 20, 2010 Magpie 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This one star is not for the product (which I haven't used yet) but for the seller- HTC.
Apparently HTC supplies these gloves to Amazon and they sent me some other brand of cutting glove and not the Microplane brand I'd ordered, even though it looks similar. Thankfully Amazon sent me a label to return it for free. I am now planning on buying my microplane glove from bed bath and beyond or some other place as I don't want to be cheated again.
I just saw a couple of other reviewers who have had the same experience so BEWARE of HTC!
Material disappointing August 18, 2010 Sindee 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these because I wanted something softer and comfortable to wear while cutting, but I would not recommend these.
PROS: Soft, washer safe, cut resistant
CONS: The material snags WAY too easily, the material soaks up so much liquid from the fruits and veggies that it feels too gross and slimy to wear (kinda like sopping wet knit mittens in the winter but warm....ewwww)
I'd look for another....
Now I can confidently and safely use my mandoline again. August 15, 2010 D. Henderson (Baltimore, MD) I heard about these cut resistant gloves, researched and settled on getting the Microplane based upon the recommendation of a leading cooking magazine. I have an old Bron French made mandoline that I long stored away after trying to use it and nearly cutting myself with it. Now with this glove (sold each and not a pair) I'm motivated to try other types of cuts with my mandoline. Yes, I could use my food processor (better for large amounts) but a mandoline is better for smaller portions. I can also use this glove when I'm using my grating bowl, box grater, and mini mandolins or if I need, even Microplane graters.
When I tried buying this glove the first time, I did it though a "Fulfilled by Amazon" merchant. I'm guessing that the company gave Amazon the wrong gloves to "fulfill": the package did not say "Microplane" and they were gloves made in China. While that glove appears to also have a tight weave they weren't the Microplane I ordered. So beware when ordering.
PROS:
The tight weave should provide better protection against cuts (when compared with other cut resistant gloves).
The glove is Made in The USA.
CONS
It will not protect again punctures.
