1 out of 5 stars Great while it lasted   July 29, 2010

This is the second one of these I have had. And both only lasted about a year. They just stop working. The on button to brew flickers and no clock. Also the style of the carafe changed and it is very difficult to pour without spilling. Changing to a different brand this time

5 out of 5 stars Terrific!   July 27, 2010

Bought this to replace my older Braun 4-cup coffee maker. Happy I made the purchase. The one-hour shutoff works just like it is supposed to, and I like the ability to pour before it is done dispensing as I occasionally am running late in the morning.

I don't use the timed feature much, but in the one month I've had it I did not notice any losing of time that others have noted.

5 out of 5 stars Just What I Needed!   July 26, 2010

I'm a dental student so I NEED coffee made with as much ease as possible in the little time I have. This is easier than making instant coffee! The programming feature is perfect. I put the grounds and water in the night before, and the coffee is ready to be poured in my tumbler in the morning. The coffeemaker keeps the warmer on an hour after the coffee is brewed, so my coffee is kept hot. Another plus is that it will automatically shut off after an hour. Since I live alone, it's the perfect size for me. It looks good and doesn't take up much space on my counter.

My coffee did have a plastic taste to it at first. I highly recommend cleaning the coffeemaker out with vinegar first because after I did that, the plastic taste went away. Also, contrary to it being advertised as a 4-cup coffeemaker, it's honestly a 2-cup.

5 out of 5 stars 4 cups is just the right amount   July 10, 2010

Bought the coffee maker at Amazon and I'm very happy with it. One person drinking coffee does not need a 12 cup machine. The little machine is not only cute, it's fast. I can make a mug of coffee before work and be awake when I get there.

4 out of 5 stars Very Good Little Coffee Maker   June 27, 2010

My large coffee maker started to go bad (I thought) & being single, I thought a 4 cup machine would be perfect. After I ordered it I saw reviews saying it was "not a 4 cup", coffee "tasted like plastic", & filters were hard to find. I tried to cancel but it was too late--& I'm glad I couldn't! Yes, it's not what most of us would call 4 cups, unless you consider 5 oz. to be a cup. It makes 2 large cups or 3 more average size cups.
I don't know how people say the coffee has a plastic taste. Maybe they did not follow instructions to run it through a few brew cycles before using. I did like I normally do to clean a pot & ran it with some vinegar the 1st cycle--then clear water for a few more cycles. I get no hint at all of any plastic taste.
Filters that fit perfectly are easy to find & cheap. I buy "Brew Rite" filters that are made for 1-4 cup machines at a local chain drug store; 200 filters for $1.59. I'm sure they'd be even cheaper at larger discount stores. Just google "brew rite" to check them out.
I only have a couple issues with the machine. 1)I have to hold the lid up, it just won't seem to stay up on its own. Makes it a little hard to fill. 2) it's a little hard to find the correct angle to fill it, using the carafe. The reservoir is just so little.
Summing up, I think it's a very good choice for someone who wants just a couple of cups of good hot coffee. I dropped it to 4 stars because, IMO, Mr Coffee should NOT label & advertise it as a 4 cup machine.
